49ers beat Broncos 24-14 to improve to 4-0

The San Francisco 49ers beat the Denver Broncos 24-14 on Sunday in Santa Clara, California, improving to 4-0 as Brock Purdy threw two touchdown passes and Christian McCaffrey scored on a run. Denver fell to 2-2 after San Francisco took control in the second half and answered a late Broncos rally with a long touchdown pass to George Kittle. The teams were tied 3-3 at halftime after struggling to produce offense. San Francisco had a chance to take the lead on the final play of the half, but Denver blocked Eddy Pineiro’s field-goal attempt. The game’s first touchdown followed a fumble by Denver punt returner Marvin Mims Jr. San Francisco’s Siran Neal recovered the ball, setting up a short drive that Purdy finished with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Deebo Samuel late in the third quarter. The score put the 49ers ahead 10-3. Denver cut the deficit to 10-6 with a field goal, but the 49ers extended their lead in the fourth quarter. Purdy led a 74-yard drive that ended with McCaffrey’s 1-yard touchdown run, making it 17-6. The Broncos responded with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Bo Nix to Jaylen Waddle and a successful two-point conversion, bringing the score to 17-14 with 4:05 remaining.
