GameStop Lists Used PS5 Pro for $1,399.99

Published 6 October 2026

GameStop is listing a preowned PlayStation 5 Pro for $1,399.99 in the United States, $500 more than the $899.99 price shown for a new unit on the retailer’s website. The used-console price is also roughly twice the system’s original $699.99 launch price in November 2024. The listing establishes the price difference, but the reason for it has not been confirmed by the company. An alleged internal employee memo circulated on Reddit said GameStop would change preowned PS5 Pro prices beginning October 6 and that used consoles costing more than new ones was intentional. GameStop has not publicly authenticated the document. While its standard preowned price appears on the retailer’s product page, additional prices attributed to the memo, including a $1,499.99 configuration, were not independently confirmed in the reporting. One report said the $1,399.99 preowned listing was unavailable for online purchase when checked. Accounts of stock levels elsewhere varied, and the available information does not establish a consistent nationwide shortage or explain the company’s pricing decision. GameStop has not publicly given a rationale for listing a used console above its new-console price.
