Commanders, Giants Tie 27-27 After Overtime Clock Runs Out

Published 11 October 2026

The Washington Commanders and New York Giants tied 27-27 in overtime Sunday after Washington ran out of time before attempting a potential game-winning field goal. The final sequence ended a contest in which both teams had opportunities to win in overtime and failed to convert them. Washington had no timeouts and was at the Giants’ 24-yard line with about 12 seconds remaining when quarterback Jayden Daniels went down without stopping the clock. The Commanders then tried to line up for a spike, but time expired before they could take another snap. The game ended in a tie. The late possession followed a turnover that gave Washington a final chance. Giants running back Cam Skattebo fumbled after New York had advanced into field-goal range in overtime, and the Commanders recovered. Washington drove downfield but could not complete the clock-stopping sequence needed to attempt a kick. Daniels accepted responsibility after the game, saying the team needed to improve its situational football and communication. He said the responsibility began with him.
