Cloud Imperium Opens Steam Wishlisting for Squadron 42

Cloud Imperium Games opened Steam wishlisting for Squadron 42 on October 10 and released a new trailer, while keeping the single-player game’s target release window at the second quarter of 2027. The Steam listing allows users to add the game to their wishlists, but does not provide a launch date. The Q2 2027 window is the studio’s current target, not confirmation that the game will ship then. Squadron 42 has been delayed repeatedly, including from a previous 2026 target. The game is a standalone, story-driven title set in the same universe as Star Citizen, Cloud Imperium’s multiplayer space game. It follows a rookie officer in the United Empire of Earth Navy serving aboard a capital ship as a galactic war unfolds. The studio describes a campaign combining space combat, ground operations, stealth, decisions involving crewmates and quieter character-focused scenes. The new trailer shows several aspects of play, including first-person action, platforming and puzzles. The game’s cast includes Mark Hamill, Gary Oldman, Gillian Anderson, Ben Mendelsohn, Henry Cavill, Andy Serkis, John Rhys-Davies and other performers.
