Apple Event to Unveil Foldable iPhone and New Models
Apple is set to unveil a slate of new products at its "Surprise and Shine" event on Wednesday, September 9. The highly anticipated event, which begins at 10 a.m. PDT (1 p.m. ET), is widely expected to mark Apple's entry into the foldable smartphone market with its first-ever foldable iPhone. While the official name remains unconfirmed, the device has been referred to as the "iPhone Ultra" in many reports, a moniker that some believe is used internally by Apple employees. Other rumored names include "iPhone Fold" and "iPhone Duo." The foldable is expected to feature a book-style design, opening to reveal a larger internal display, reportedly around 7.8 inches, with a smaller external screen of approximately 5.5 inches. Leaks suggest the device will incorporate two rear cameras and potentially use Touch ID instead of Face ID. The foldable iPhone is also anticipated to be powered by Apple's new A20 chip. However, its price is expected to be a significant barrier, with rumors pointing to a cost exceeding $2,000, potentially ranging between $2,000 and $2,500.
