Ali Hazelwood Sets ‘The Two-Body Problem’ for 2027

Author Ali Hazelwood has announced that The Two-Body Problem, a sequel to her 2021 novel The Love Hypothesis, is scheduled for publication on February 2, 2027. Hazelwood also said MRC is developing a film based on the new book for Amazon MGM Studios, but cautioned that the project is not guaranteed to proceed. The announcement, shared on Instagram on September 29, included the sequel’s cover and details about its story. Hazelwood said the book follows Olive Smith and Adam Carlsen over a couple of years, combining everyday life with postdoctoral turmoil and the challenges of a long-term relationship. The characters’ romance began in The Love Hypothesis, in which Olive enters a fake relationship with Adam, an intimidating professor. The planned film adaptation remains at the development stage. Hazelwood did not announce a production schedule or confirm any cast members. Although Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman played Olive and Adam in the recent adaptation of the first book, no reports establish that they will return for the sequel.
