Trump Scheduled to Present Medals to Six Tech Executives

Published 8 October 2026

President Donald Trump was scheduled to present national science and technology medals to six executives at the White House on Thursday, October 8, during the Science: A New Golden Age Summit. The reports identify the planned recipients and awards, but do not confirm that the ceremony took place or that the medals were presented. Elon Musk, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and AMD CEO Lisa Su were slated to receive the National Medal of Science. Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella were named for the National Medal of Technology and Innovation. The advance reports said Trump would present both awards at the summit. The White House had not publicly explained the selections in the supplied accounts. Spokesperson Liz Huston said the recipients were helping ensure that the United States continued to lead in innovation. That statement was the only rationale attributed to the administration; no recipient-specific award citations were included. The planned ceremony was described as the first time Trump would present either medal during his two administrations.
