Tony Iommi Releases ‘Stormwatcher’ From Forthcoming Album

Published 1 October 2026

Tony Iommi has released “Stormwatcher,” a single accompanied by an animated video, as a preview of his forthcoming solo album, From the Dark. The album is scheduled to be released on October 23, according to promotional information reported about the record. The song centers on a ship caught in a storm, using its passage through dangerous waters as an image for life’s difficulties. Vocalist Jørn Lande, who wrote the lyrics, said the vessel represents people navigating hardship while pressing ahead toward new horizons. His explanation appeared in an official statement accompanying the release. The animated video brings the maritime imagery to the screen. One description of the clip says it is rendered in black and white with a woodcut-like appearance, following a stranded man at sea as the storm and rats become threats. The broader reports characterize the video as dramatizing the song’s storm-tossed setting. “Stormwatcher” is described as the second preview from From the Dark, following the earlier single “World Alone.” Promotional details identify Iommi, Lande and Mike Exeter as co-writers of “Stormwatcher,” with Exeter also co-producing the album alongside Iommi.
