Sri Lanka's Pasindu Sooriyabandara scored a resilient 80 on the third day of the second Test against India in Colombo, but the hosts remained in a difficult position, trailing by 373 runs at lunch. The 26-year-old, playing only his second Test, was the standout performer in a Sri Lankan innings that struggled against India's pace attack, particularly from Prasidh Krishna. India had declared its first innings at 503 for nine on Day 2, a total built around centuries from Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel.
