Sri Lanka's Jayasuriya reprimanded for Code breach in Test vs India

Published 25 August 2026

Sri Lankan spinner Prabath Jayasuriya has been officially reprimanded and received one demerit point from the International Cricket Council for breaching its Code of Conduct during the second Test against India in Colombo. The sanction was imposed on August 25, 2026, following an incident at the end of the second day's play at the Sinhalese Sports Club. Jayasuriya was found guilty of a Level 1 breach of Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to the abuse of cricket equipment, clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures and fittings during an international match. The incident occurred after he was dismissed by Indian left-arm spinner Manav Suthar on the final delivery of the day.
