Shawn Levy and 21 Laps Sign Disney TV Deal

Shawn Levy and his production company, 21 Laps, have signed a multiyear television deal with Disney’s 20th Television to develop and produce series across Disney’s platforms and brands. The agreement shifts Levy’s television business from Netflix, where he has worked for years, while leaving him involved in projects in the Stranger Things universe, which remains with Netflix. The new deal is reported to begin in October 2027, after Levy’s current Netflix agreement expires. The companies have not disclosed the full terms or duration beyond describing it as multiyear. The arrangement concerns television development and production; it does not transfer Stranger Things to Disney. Levy said he would continue collaborating on the Stranger Things universe with its creators, the Duffer Brothers. He also expressed appreciation for his years working with Netflix. Reports say the franchise and its spin-off remain at Netflix, where Levy has served as an executive producer and director on the series. Under the agreement, Levy and 21 Laps are to develop and produce shows for Disney’s range of television and streaming platforms and brands.
