Netflix Casts Daisy Jelley and Connor Simos in Icebreaker

Netflix has cast Daisy Jelley and Connor Simos as the leads of Icebreaker, its planned series adaptation of Hannah Grace’s romance novel. The streamer announced Monday that Jelley will play figure skater Anastasia Allen, also known as Stassie, and Simos will play hockey player Nate Hawkins. No production schedule or release date was provided in the reports. The series follows Anastasia, a competitive skater pursuing Olympic gold, and Nate, a campus hockey player aiming for a professional career. According to the show’s published description, an accident forces their teams to share a rink, bringing the two athletes together as they balance their ambitions and growing attraction. Icebreaker is the first novel in Grace’s Maple Hills series. The adaptation’s creative team includes Jade Halley Bartlett, credited as creator, and Amanda Lasher, who is set to serve as showrunner. Grace is among the executive producers, alongside Alex Cooper, Matt Kaplan and Mina Lefevre, through Cooper’s Unwell Productions. The casting announcement follows Netflix’s earlier announcement of the series, which one report said was made in June.
