Ronan says Bond rumors are not discussed at home
Saoirse Ronan said speculation that her husband, actor Jack Lowden, could become the next James Bond is not a subject they are discussing at home. No casting decision has been announced, and Gary Oldman later said he did not know which actor would play the role, despite earlier remarks suggesting a choice had been made. Ronan said she and Lowden were focused on everyday life and his work on the television series Slow Horses. She noted that the household had other priorities, including walking the dog and making dinner, and said Lowden was enjoying his current work. Her comments were made in response to questions about remarks by Oldman, Lowden’s co-star on the series. Oldman had said Lowden was rumored to be on a shortlist and suggested that Bond producers had already chosen an actor, although they had not announced the decision. He also said he was hoping Lowden would get the part. The comments intensified speculation about Lowden’s prospects, but Oldman later clarified that he had heard a rumor that a selection had been made and did not know who would play Bond. He said he was still hoping it would be Lowden. Amazon MGM has not announced a casting choice.
