Rob Reiner Wins Posthumous Emmy for The Bear

Rob Reiner was honored with a posthumous Emmy Award for his performance in the FX series "The Bear" during the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony held on Sunday, September 6, 2026. The late actor and filmmaker received the award for Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his portrayal of Albert Schnur. Presenter Wendi McLendon-Covey accepted the award on his behalf, as the audience rose for a standing ovation. Reiner's role as Albert Schnur, a business consultant who mentored a character in the show's fourth season, marked one of his final acting projects. The episodes featuring Reiner were released in June 2025. He was nominated in a competitive category alongside Michael J. Fox and Brett Goldstein for "Shrinking," Hamish Linklater for "Widows Bay," Christopher McDonald for "Hacks," and Connor Storrie for hosting "Saturday Night Live." The award ceremony took place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Reiner, who was 78 at the time of his death, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found deceased in their Brentwood, California, home on December 14, 2025. Their son, Nick Reiner, 32, was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with their murders.
