Rajinikanth recounts Chakraborty’s condition for Jailer 2

Published 13 October 2026

Rajinikanth said Mithun Chakraborty agreed to join Jailer 2 after asking that his character not be beaten or shot by Rajinikanth’s character. The actor recounted the exchange at the Jailer 2 Super Show, describing a condition Chakraborty set before accepting the role. Rajinikanth said the production team first approached Chakraborty about the film. Chakraborty wanted to know what role he would play and whether he would have to take beatings from Rajinikanth’s character. Rajinikanth said the two later discussed the subject at a WAVES Summit, where Chakraborty told him he would do the film if neither of those things happened to his character. Rajinikanth said he responded that he would ask the director, Nelson Dilipkumar, and get back to Chakraborty. He also recalled thinking Chakraborty might not have been entirely serious. The account of the conversation comes from Rajinikanth’s remarks; the supplied reports do not independently verify the exchange. Separately, Jailer 2’s makers said the film’s Hindi version remains scheduled for theatrical release on October 15, 2026, alongside its other language versions.
