Peacock Sets October 15 Premiere for Crystal Lake

Published 7 October 2026

Peacock is scheduled to release all eight episodes of Crystal Lake, a Friday the 13th prequel centered on Pamela Voorhees and her son Jason, on October 15, 2026. The series follows Pamela before the events of the original film and explores the family story behind the franchise’s first killer, according to creator Brad Caleb Kane’s descriptions of the project. Linda Cardellini plays Pamela, a single mother whose young son, portrayed by Callum Vinson, drowns at Camp Crystal Lake. The series is set in the 1970s, years before the 1980 film. Kane has said the story examines Pamela and Jason’s relationship and Jason’s development from a child who is treated as an outsider toward the figure familiar from the films. The available descriptions come from the production team and do not establish how the completed series will portray those events. Kane said the production is aiming for a more grounded look for young Jason, with extensive makeup, rather than the familiar hockey mask associated with the character in later films. He has also said the series shows the origin of a mask and explains its place in the story, without disclosing its appearance.
