Hanks and André Clash at ComplexCon, Reviving Dispute

Published 7 October 2026

Chet Hanks and comedian Eric André exchanged words at ComplexCon in Los Angeles after Hanks approached André and touched his shoulder, reviving a public dispute that began in 2023. Footage of the encounter shows André walking away with security. Reports describing the video noted no visible violence, and much of the conversation is difficult to hear clearly. Hanks shared the footage on social media and used its caption to revisit their disagreement. He claimed André had criticized him publicly after his appearance on The Eric André Show, then initially said he did not remember doing so. Hanks also alleged that André objected to his use of a Jamaican accent and said the comedian had attended ComplexCon with four security guards. The video does not establish what André said about the accent, the number of guards or why they were present; those details come from Hanks’s account. The exchange stems from competing accounts of Hanks’s 2023 appearance on the show. André said in an interview that Hanks rode a motorcycle around the set and nearly knocked crew members from ladders.
