Patriots Rally Past Bills 29-26 on Late Maye Touchdown
The New England Patriots beat the Buffalo Bills 29-26 in Orchard Park on Sunday, October 4, after Drake Maye threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Efton Chism III with 1:50 remaining and connected with Rhamondre Stevenson for a two-point conversion. Craig Woodson intercepted Josh Allen on Buffalo’s ensuing possession, helping New England secure the win and handing the Bills their first loss of the season. The Patriots had trailed 26-21 after Allen threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Keon Coleman with 4:27 left. Buffalo’s two-point attempt failed. New England answered with a drive that ended when Chism made a one-handed catch in the end zone on third down. The conversion put the Patriots ahead by three. Buffalo still had a chance to respond, but Allen’s pass intended for Josh Palmer was intercepted by Woodson at the Patriots’ 19-yard line. New England then kept possession and ran out the clock. Maye completed 22 of 37 passes for 269 yards and three touchdowns. He also lost a fumble and threw an interception in the first half. Romeo Doubs caught two touchdown passes, of 14 and 2 yards, while Stevenson scored on a 1-yard run.
