Missouri rises to No. 14 as Florida falls in AP poll
Missouri climbed 11 places to No. 14 in the Week 6 Associated Press Top 25 after beating Florida 45-17 on Saturday, while the Gators fell from No. 8 to No. 16. The poll, released Sunday, also ranked Alabama sixth and Indiana seventh, and brought Pitt into the rankings at No. 25. Missouri’s rise followed a decisive win over a Florida team that had entered the week in the top 10. Florida reached No. 8 after beating Ole Miss the previous week, but its loss in Columbia, Missouri, dropped it eight places. LSU moved into the top 10 at No. 10, replacing Florida. Alabama moved up to No. 6 after a 56-23 victory over Mississippi State, which fell from No. 16 to No. 17. Indiana dropped one spot to No. 7 despite beating Rutgers 47-15. The top five remained unchanged: Texas, Georgia, Notre Dame, Miami and Ohio State, in that order. Texas received 61 of 70 first-place votes. Other changes included BYU’s rise from No. 10 to No. 8 after a 17-10 win over TCU, while Ole Miss stayed ninth and LSU advanced one place. Iowa fell six spots to No. 20 after losing 31-14 to Ohio State. Kentucky, which beat South Carolina 35-34 in overtime, dropped out of the rankings; Pitt took the final spot.
