Bengals Rule Ja’Marr Chase Out After Concussion Evaluation

Published 4 October 2026

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was ruled out of the team’s Week 4 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday after leaving in the second quarter to be evaluated for a concussion. The Bengals placed him in concussion protocol, but the available reports do not establish a diagnosis or his status beyond the game. Chase was hurt after catching a short pass from quarterback Joe Burrow. Jacksonville defender Jarrian Jones pulled his facemask during the tackle, and linebacker Ventrell Miller made subsequent contact as Chase went to the ground. Jones was penalized for facemasking. Chase remained down briefly, then walked off under his own power and went to the medical tent before heading to the locker room for further evaluation. During the initial evaluation, reports listed Chase’s return as questionable. The Bengals later ruled him out for the remainder of the game. That game-day decision confirms he did not return, but it does not by itself establish whether he sustained a concussion or whether he would be available for a later game. No subsequent medical update or clearance outcome is established in the available information.
