Overwatch Season 5 Reworks Sombra and Roadhog
Blizzard released Overwatch Season 5 on October 6, introducing a new support hero, Doctrine, and major reworks for Sombra and Roadhog alongside changes to the broader hero roster. The patch notes describe the announced abilities and balance adjustments, but the available reporting does not establish how the changes perform in live matches. Sombra moves from Damage to Support, and her Hack ability is removed. She gains Hotfix, which heals allies and can still hack health packs and most enemy deployables, and Cyberspace, which applies Weaken to reduce enemies’ damage and healing output. Blizzard’s notes say the redesign is intended to retain her stealthy hacker identity while reducing the frustration of opponents being locked out of their abilities. Roadhog remains a Tank but receives a new ability, Trash Compactor, in place of his Scrap Gun’s secondary fire. It absorbs incoming projectiles for a short time and converts them into an explosive shot. His Scrap Gun now fires in two bursts, with ammunition increased from six to 12, while Chain Hook and other weapon characteristics have also been adjusted.
