PlatinumGames Wants to Expand Bayonetta, No Game Confirmed
PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba said the studio wants to further develop Bayonetta’s character and expand the franchise’s world, but he did not confirm a new game or disclose any current plans. Inaba made the remarks in a Famitsu interview tied to a crossover featuring Bayonetta in the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Stellar Blade. Asked about the franchise’s next step, he said he could not answer at that time, then described a strong desire to develop the character and broaden her world. He asked fans to wait to see what form that work might take. When asked specifically about a next game, Inaba declined to comment. His answer leaves open whether PlatinumGames is considering another mainline entry, a spin-off, a different kind of project or no near-term release. The studio has not announced a Bayonetta project or provided a schedule. The interview followed the 2023 release of Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon, the franchise’s most recent game identified in the reports. Bayonetta 3, the previous mainline entry, was released in 2022. Inaba’s comments express the studio’s interest in the property, but do not establish that development on another game has begun.
