Krafton Ends Development of PUBG Black Budget
Krafton has ended development of PUBG Black Budget, canceling the extraction shooter before it received a full release. The publisher said it concluded that the game’s current direction would not allow the team to deliver an experience players could enjoy over the long term. The announcement did not identify a specific cause beyond that assessment. The decision was shared in a development update on the game’s Steam page on October 1. Black Budget had no announced release date and had been playable only in two closed-alpha testing periods, in December 2025 and June 2026. Its cancellation came after the second test, which ran June 26 to 29. Krafton thanked players who took part in the tests and shared feedback. It said PUBG Studios would carry lessons from the game’s development and testing into future projects, but did not name a replacement or successor. The announcement also did not explain what would happen to the team that worked on Black Budget. The project was designed as a first-person, player-versus-player and player-versus-environment extraction shooter set on an island caught in a time loop.
