NBC Orders Five More Scripts for Line of Fire
NBC has ordered five additional scripts for Line of Fire, a step toward expanding the first-season run of the crime drama, but it has not commissioned more episodes. The series was initially ordered for 13 episodes. If the network turns the new scripts into episodes, the season could reach 18. The order follows the show’s opening episodes and reported audience figures. The premiere has drawn 12 million viewers across platforms, including on-air repeats, according to reports. Its same-day audience was reported at 2.98 million. Those figures have been cited in coverage of the network’s decision, though the script order does not guarantee a longer season. Lisa Katz, NBC and Peacock’s president of scripted content, said 18 episodes would be a suitable length for the season. She also praised the audience response and the series’ mix of cases, family drama and mystery. Her comments describe a possible season length, not a final production order. Line of Fire follows the Hollingsworth family, whose members work in federal law enforcement. Peter Krause plays Mike Hollingsworth, a Secret Service agent, while Hope Davis plays Jane Hollingsworth, a U.S. Marshal.
