Hulu Orders Ryan Coogler’s X-Files Series

Published 13 October 2026

Hulu has ordered Ryan Coogler’s new installment of The X-Files to series, moving the project beyond its pilot stage and setting up a fresh story led by Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel. The streaming platform announced the order on October 13, 2026. It did not announce a premiere date. The series will follow two highly decorated but very different FBI agents who form an unlikely bond after being assigned to a long-shuttered division investigating unexplained phenomena, according to the show’s official logline. The premise returns to the franchise’s paranormal investigations while introducing a new central team. Coogler wrote and directed the pilot and will executive produce the series. Jennifer Yale is the showrunner and an executive producer. Other executive producers include original series creator Chris Carter, Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian. Production involves Onyx Collective, 20th Television and Proximity Media. Deadwyler and Patel also serve as co-executive producers. The pilot was filmed earlier in 2026. Its announced guest cast includes Amy Madigan, Steve Buscemi, Ben Foster, Devery Jacobs, Lochlyn Munro, Tantoo Cardinal, Joel D. Montgrand and Sofia Grace Clifton.
