Mike Love Performs Seated as Stamos Reports Health Challenges

Published 12 October 2026

John Stamos said Mike Love is facing serious health challenges after the Beach Boys singer performed seated at the band’s first public concert in three months, in Cincinnati on October 10. Love remained onstage throughout the show, contributing backing vocals as other musicians took some of his lead parts. No diagnosis has been disclosed. Stamos shared his account on Instagram on October 11, ahead of the band’s scheduled performance at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. He wrote that doctors, family and friends had urged Love to focus on his health, but that Love insisted on performing. Stamos, a longtime friend who has performed with the band, said Love draws support from the group and its audience. At the Cincinnati concert, Love was helped onto the stage and sat for the duration of the performance. Concert accounts said guitarist Brian Eichenberger and Love’s son, Christian Love, handled lead vocals on songs Mike Love has traditionally sung. Mike Love also thanked the audience and joined in on some backing vocals. Love appeared seated again at the Ryman show on October 11. There, he briefly told the crowd he had health challenges and had to make it to the concert.
