Maher Says Trump Invited Him to Another Dinner
Comedian Bill Maher said on his Club Random podcast that President Donald Trump invited him to another dinner and that he planned to attend the following week. The reports do not establish whether the dinner took place; the episode’s recording date is unclear. Maher made the remarks during a conversation with Ari Emanuel, a media executive. He said Trump had invited him back after their first dinner and described a text exchange in which Trump promised not to say negative things about him as he had after their previous meeting. Maher said he replied that he was glad they were talking. The planned dinner followed a 2025 White House meal arranged by their mutual friend Kid Rock. Maher has previously said he found Trump more gracious and good-humored in person than he expected. Trump later criticized Maher publicly, according to the accounts of the podcast conversation. On the podcast, Maher and Emanuel also discussed Larry David, who had criticized Maher’s first dinner with Trump in an opinion essay. Maher questioned why he had been condemned for meeting Trump while Emanuel, whom Maher said had also spoken with the president, was not.
