Lindsay Clancy Murder Trial Declared Mistrial

A mistrial has been declared in the case of Lindsay Clancy, who is accused of murdering her three young children, after jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict following more than seven days of deliberation. Judge William Sullivan made the declaration on September 4, 2026, after the jury reported being deadlocked. Clancy's defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, stated he will file a motion on September 29 to dismiss the charges on double-jeopardy grounds. Reddington argued that there was no "manifest necessity" for the judge to declare a mistrial, suggesting the court should have investigated further into the jury's deadlock. The jury was reportedly split 11 to 1, with the foreperson indicating that a single juror acknowledged reasonable doubt but refused to apply it to the law as instructed. Judge Sullivan had previously denied defense requests to remove the holdout juror or to question the jury further. Reddington also expressed his willingness to discuss a plea agreement with Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz.
