Illinois Mom Charged in Son's Death Linked to Clancy Case

Published 8 September 2026

Corie Walsh, 40, has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the death of her 2-year-old son, Barrett Walsh, who was found dead on September 1, 2026, in Frankfort, Illinois. Prosecutors allege Barrett died from asphyxia due to ligature compression of the neck. Authorities stated that Walsh told investigators she believed her son was "the devil" and the "antiChrist." Walsh appeared in Will County court on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, for a detention hearing and was ordered held in jail. According to court documents, a neighbor discovered the child in the basement of the family home, removed a ligature, and attempted CPR while calling 911. Responding officers found Walsh upstairs in a bathtub, apparently suffering from self-inflicted injuries, and she was transported to a hospital for treatment before being transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. Prosecutors have highlighted that witnesses told investigators Walsh had recently become "very invested" in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, a Massachusetts mother accused of killing her three children in 2023.
