Kelly Criticizes Rodrigo for Supporting Jane Doe

Published 7 October 2026

Singer Olivia Rodrigo publicly supported a woman identified in court documents as Jane Doe and criticized Cornell University on October 4, prompting broadcaster Megyn Kelly to attack Rodrigo the next day on her show. Kelly told Rodrigo to stick to singing and called her a “know-nothing” moron, while the underlying allegations against seven former members of Cornell’s Chi Phi fraternity remain unresolved in civil and criminal proceedings. Rodrigo’s Instagram Story said she stood with Doe and that Cornell and other institutions should not protect alleged perpetrators. She wrote that Doe deserved answers, consequences and lasting change. Kelly read Rodrigo’s statement during her October 5 broadcast and challenged the singer to refrain from commenting, saying she did not know what she was talking about. Kelly also suggested she might examine Rodrigo’s messaging to young women; what she meant by that was unclear in the reports. Doe’s civil lawsuit alleges that seven former fraternity members sexually assaulted her at a Chi Phi house in October 2024, after she had consumed alcohol and was pressured to take drugs.
