GPU Price Pressures Grow as RTX 5090 Claims Circulate
Graphics-card buyers face a possible new round of price pressure as reports point to higher memory costs and tighter supplies, while unconfirmed claims suggest Nvidia may direct future chips used in its RTX 5090 to professional products. No company has confirmed the reported changes. Chinese supply-chain forum posts, relayed through reporting, said AMD raised the price of GDDR6 memory supplied with its graphics processors to board partners, effective October 1. The reports do not include confirmation from AMD or direct pricing documentation. If the increase is accurate, board partners could face higher costs for graphics cards, though any resulting retail price changes have not been established. US PC maker StinceBuilt said it was seeing increasing constraints on graphics-card supply and expected retail GPU prices to climb significantly. The company also warned that elevated prices could persist for some time, without specifying a duration. That is a forecast, not a measured market-wide increase. Separately, leaker MEGAsizeGPU claimed Nvidia would allocate future GB202 chips to RTX Pro products rather than GeForce RTX 5090 cards.
