Companies pledge $2.4 billion in AI resources for federal research
The Trump administration said 11 companies have committed a combined $2.4 billion in artificial intelligence resources to support federal research through its Genesis Mission, a governmentwide science initiative involving more than 15 agencies. The White House described the contributions as computing credits, AI tools and related support, rather than direct cash payments to the government. Nvidia made the largest commitment, at $1 billion, followed by AMD at $500 million and OpenAI at $200 million. Anthropic and Google each pledged $150 million; AMP and Emerald AI each committed $100 million. Amazon Web Services, Armada, Crusoe and Micron each pledged $50 million, according to the White House. The commitments were announced Thursday at a White House science summit. The administration characterized the broader effort as a $6 billion push, combining private-sector contributions with federal programs and funding. The company commitments support the Genesis Mission Consortium, which is intended to coordinate research across federal agencies and scientific organizations. The White House said the resources would help agencies pursue national science and technology challenges.
