Broadcom, Oracle and SpaceX Seek AI Chip Financing

Published 8 October 2026

Broadcom, Oracle and SpaceX are pursuing separate financing arrangements worth tens of billions of dollars to acquire artificial intelligence chips and expand computing capacity, according to reports citing people familiar with the discussions. The proposals underscore the scale of investment required to build AI infrastructure, but remain at different stages and are not all finalized deals. Broadcom is in early talks about arranging more than $50 billion in financing connected to custom AI chips it is developing with OpenAI. Apollo Global Management and Blackstone are among the potential participants, according to the reports. The financing would support OpenAI’s purchases of the jointly developed hardware; the amount and terms remain under negotiation, and no agreement is expected before the end of 2026. The discussions build on a partnership Broadcom and OpenAI announced in October 2025. The companies set a goal of deploying 10 gigawatts of AI accelerators by the end of 2029. The proposed financing is a target under discussion, not a signed commitment. Oracle is separately discussing financing for chip purchases with Apollo Global Management and Goldman Sachs.
