SpaceX Discusses $40 Billion Debt for Nvidia Chips

Published 7 October 2026

SpaceX is discussing raising about $40 billion in debt to buy artificial-intelligence chips from Nvidia, according to people familiar with the private talks, but the company has not publicly confirmed the proposed financing. The discussions are at an early stage and could end without a deal, the people said. The reported plan would combine about $10 billion in bank loans with $30 billion in investment-grade debt, according to people familiar with the plans. Apollo Global Management is expected to lead the financing and help market the debt to investors. Pimco is among investment managers reportedly considering participation. The terms, lender roster and timing have not been confirmed by the companies. The accounts differ on the expected timetable: one description of the plans said the transaction was expected to close in 2027, while people familiar with the talks characterized them as preliminary and said they might not result in a deal. No completed transaction has been established. SpaceX, Nvidia and Apollo did not immediately respond to requests for comment, according to the reports. The financing would pay for Nvidia chips for SpaceX’s computing infrastructure.
