Boston Dynamics Names Rohit Prasad CEO
Boston Dynamics has appointed Rohit Prasad, a former Amazon executive who led work on Alexa and the Amazon Nova foundation models, as chief executive officer, effective October 7, 2026. The company says he will lead efforts to combine artificial intelligence with robotics and expand commercialization of its machines. His expected appointment to the company’s board remains subject to approval. The company announced the appointment on October 6. Prasad spent about 12 years at Amazon in leadership roles involving Alexa and artificial general intelligence, and more recently led development of the Amazon Nova foundation model family. Before that, he spent nearly 14 years at Raytheon BBN Technologies working on machine-learning research and applications, according to the appointment announcement. Boston Dynamics develops robots for industrial and other real-world settings. Its portfolio includes Spot, a four-legged robot; Stretch, a system designed for moving boxes; and Atlas, an electric humanoid platform that remains in development. The company describes its strategy as Physical AI, applying artificial intelligence to machines that operate in the physical world.
