Anduril Plans $3.7 Billion Maryland Shipyard Investment
Anduril Industries announced plans to invest $3.7 billion in a Baltimore County shipyard to manufacture components for U.S. Navy submarines, while a dispute over Maryland Gov. Wes Moore’s role at the announcement left him absent from the event. The planned facility is expected to support thousands of jobs, though reports cited different estimates and did not clarify how they were calculated. Moore said Tuesday he would not attend the event after being told he would not be allowed to speak. He said his administration had worked with Anduril for more than a year to secure the project. The White House said Moore had been invited as a guest and described the investment as a federal initiative. The accounts differ over whether Moore had originally been scheduled to speak and who decided he would not. One account, citing people familiar with the matter, said Anduril initially asked Moore to join the speaking program and that he was told over the weekend that President Donald Trump had requested his removal. The White House did not directly address whether Moore had previously been assigned a speaking role.
