Published 13 October 2026

The International Cricket Council named Shubman Gill and Shafali Verma its men’s and women’s Players of the Month for September 2026, giving Gill a record fifth win and Verma her second. Gill received the men’s award after scoring 110 and an unbeaten 223 in India’s first two one-day internationals against West Indies. The centuries helped India chase targets of 296 and 406, respectively. The second innings, played in Guwahati, included 26 fours and eight sixes, according to the reported match figures. The award extends Gill’s record for the most wins by a men’s player. His previous honours came in January 2023, September 2023, February 2025 and July 2025. He was selected ahead of fellow nominees Abhishek Sharma of India and Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe. Verma earned the women’s award after a strong month that included India’s Women’s Asia Cup campaign and its gold-medal run at the Asian Games. She scored 360 runs in seven T20 internationals at an average of 72 and a strike rate of 184.61, and took six wickets during the reported period. At the Asia Cup, Verma was the leading run-scorer, making 236 runs in five innings.
