Delhi Police Register Two FIRs Over INDIA Bloc March

Published 12 October 2026

Delhi Police registered two FIRs over the INDIA bloc’s October 12 march in New Delhi, while 11 opposition leaders filed a Supreme Court petition challenging Election Commission decisions related to the revision of electoral rolls. The court’s Registry has flagged procedural defects in the petition, including a request for clarification about the election commissioners named as respondents. The FIRs were registered at Barakhamba Road and Tilak Marg police stations, according to reports citing police. Delhi Police said the march had not been permitted and alleged that barricades were damaged with a truck. Police accounts also alleged that graffiti was drawn on roads. Those allegations have not been independently established in the available reports. The march, led by Rahul Gandhi, proceeded along Barakhamba Road toward the Supreme Court. INDIA bloc leaders and supporters were seeking action over the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision, or SIR, of electoral rolls. The bloc’s leaders have alleged irregularities in the process and challenged decisions by the commission; the allegations do not establish that electoral wrongdoing occurred.
