Delhi Metro restricts access at six stations until 4 p.m.

Published 12 October 2026

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said it would close entry and exit at six central Delhi stations from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 12, citing security concerns connected to a planned INDIA bloc march to the Supreme Court. Passengers could still change trains at the affected stations, DMRC said. The restrictions covered Janpath, Mandi House, Barakhamba Road, Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk and Patel Chowk. DMRC said security agencies would review the situation and that it would share updates as necessary. The announcement set the closures to last until 4 p.m.; the information available does not establish whether the restrictions were later extended or lifted. The INDIA bloc planned the march over allegations of irregularities in electoral processes and voter-list revisions, and to seek action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Those claims are allegations, not established findings. The march was scheduled for October 12, but the supplied information does not confirm whether it took place or what its outcome was. The Delhi Traffic Police separately warned that traffic could be disrupted in parts of the capital and that diversions might begin at 6 a.m.
