Delhi High Court Seeks Khan’s Reply on Film Suit Stay Plea
The Delhi High Court has sought Salman Khan’s response to producer Amit Jani’s application to pause proceedings over Khan’s objections to the proposed film Kala Hiran. The court’s action leaves the stay request unresolved; Khan’s counsel said he would file a reply. Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani heard the application on October 6. Jani argues that Khan’s film-related claims substantially duplicate an earlier personality-rights case pending before the High Court. He is asking the court to pause the current proceedings until that earlier matter is decided. The court has not ruled on the request. The dispute concerns Khan’s objections to the proposed film and promotional material that he says could make him identifiable and connect him to events from his life. The film’s title is inconsistently reported as Kala Hiran The Battle for Legacy and Kala Hiran The Battle for Legal, so it is referred to here as Kala Hiran. According to the accounts of the hearing, Jani’s application says Khan has already brought a personality-rights suit and that the film-related claims seek substantially similar relief.
