Cindy Hook to leave Brisbane 2032 at contract’s end
Cindy Hook will leave her role as chief executive of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic organizing committee when her four-year contract ends in December 2026, after deciding not to renew it. Organizers said Tuesday they would begin recruiting a successor immediately, with an appointment expected in the coming months. Hook announced her decision on October 13, saying the foundations for the Games had been laid and it was the right time to hand over leadership for the next phase. She did not provide a specific reason for leaving before the 2032 event. In a statement, Hook said she was proud to have built the organization, set its Games vision and plan, and established its strategy and brand. She also cited early market momentum and commercial wins. Her departure comes as Brisbane 2032 moves from planning and capability-building toward operations and delivery, according to organizers. Brisbane 2032 president Andrew Liveris praised Hook’s contribution, saying she had transformed the committee from a fledgling operation into a thriving organization. He credited her with establishing organizational and financial governance processes and recruiting a high-caliber team.
