Trezor to End Selected Reseller Authorizations in 2027

Published 13 October 2026

Trezor is reducing its authorized reseller network after a hardware implant was found in Ledger devices sold through CryptoBilis, saying the move is preventive and that it has no evidence its own devices were compromised. The company has stopped sending new stock to selected resellers and told them their authorization will end on January 1, 2027. Those partners may continue selling existing inventory through Black Friday and the holiday season. Trezor has not disclosed how many resellers are affected or which markets are involved. Trezor said it assessed countries individually, considering revenue, distribution and its own presence. Partners that remain authorized will face an updated legal framework and tighter checks on how devices are sourced, stored and handled. The company described the changes as a way to strengthen oversight of its distribution chain. The decision followed Ledger’s confirmation that devices sold through CryptoBilis, a Southeast Asian reseller, contained an unauthorized implant. Ledger’s security team said the component can read a recovery phrase displayed on the device screen and transmit it over a cellular connection.
