Paramount Plans to Reopen Pacific Palisades Bay Theater
Paramount Pictures plans to take over and reopen the Bay Theater in Pacific Palisades later in 2026, returning the cinema to use after it closed following the January 2025 Palisades fire. The Lot, a luxury dine-in theater chain, is slated to operate the venue, according to the announcement by Paramount and developer Rick Caruso. The theater is expected to show first-run films from all studios, as well as classic movies and special events. The plans also include experiential programming intended to extend entertainment beyond the screen. No exact reopening date has been announced. The Bay Theater is located in Palisades Village, the shopping center owned by Caruso’s company. Caruso said in an interview that Paramount intends to upgrade the theater with modern projection systems and in-seat food and drink service. The reports describe a five-screen multiplex with luxury seating, sound and projection equipment, and in-theater dining. The theater has been closed since the fires damaged the surrounding community in January 2025. Palisades Village reopened in August after remediation and repairs. Caruso said the center’s renovations and infrastructure work cost more than $100 million.
