Bottas completes 419km ride from Malaysia to Singapore
Valtteri Bottas completed a 419.67-kilometre bicycle journey from Malaysia to Singapore ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, choosing a three-day ride instead of a short flight. The Cadillac Formula 1 driver confirmed the trip’s completion on social media and documented it on Strava, according to reports on his post. Bottas travelled from the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur through Malaysia and into Singapore, taking rural roads and off-road and gravel tracks. Reports described the route as roughly 419 or 420 kilometres. He arrived in Singapore on Wednesday, October 7, in time for media commitments at the Marina Bay Circuit on Thursday. The 37-year-old said the journey included encounters with a cobra and a python, as well as a lizard he had to jump over. He also recounted being chased by a dog and delayed by cows on a narrow track. Those wildlife encounters and obstacles were described by Bottas; the reports’ repetition of his account does not independently verify them. Bottas said riding through the jungle after dark was the most memorable part of the trip. He described hearing noises in the darkness and wondering what might be nearby, while continuing with lights on his bicycle.
