Blizzard and Netflix Announce Diablo Animated Series

Published 12 September 2026

Blizzard Entertainment and Netflix are developing an animated series based on the Diablo video game franchise, the companies announced at BlizzCon 2026. The project was revealed during the opening ceremony of the fan event by Blizzard president Johanna Faries. Faries told the audience that the series is in early development, with its story, characters, creative team, and release window not yet determined. "We are thrilled to share that we are in development for a new animated series for Diablo with Netflix," Faries said. She described herself as a major Diablo player and expressed excitement about bringing the dark fantasy world of Sanctuary to television. The announcement marks a significant expansion for the Diablo franchise, which began in 1996. Blizzard's official description states the partnership aims to tell more stories beyond gaming across new screens. The series will be set in the franchise's universe, where humanity is caught in an eternal war between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells. This is not the first time Netflix and Blizzard have explored a Diablo adaptation.
