BCCI Postpones IPL Stakeholders’ Meeting
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has postponed an Indian Premier League stakeholders’ meeting scheduled for October 15 in Mumbai, secretary Devajit Saikia said. The BCCI has not announced a replacement date or venue. Saikia told stakeholders the decision was made because Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to felicitate India’s men’s and women’s cricket teams in New Delhi on October 15 for their performances at the 2026 Asian Games. The ceremony is also expected to require the attendance of senior BCCI officials, according to his communication. Saikia also cited requests from stakeholders to defer the meeting. He said postponing it would help facilitate in-person participation. The reasons were given in the BCCI secretary’s communication; the reports do not describe an independently announced explanation from the board. The meeting had been scheduled for 6 p.m. at Mumbai’s Taj Santacruz. Its planned participants included IPL franchise owners, team CEOs, broadcasters and representatives of the 13 state associations that host league matches. The agenda was described as league-related matters ahead of the new season.
