Aman Sehrawat wins Asian Games wrestling gold

Published 3 October 2026

Aman Sehrawat defeated reigning world champion Han Chong Song 11-7 in the men’s 57kg freestyle final on October 3, winning gold at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games and adding an Asian Games title to his Olympic bronze medal. The result gave India another wrestling gold at the Games and moved Sehrawat one step beyond the bronze he won at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games. The 23-year-old Indian advanced to the final with a 14-8 semifinal win over Tajikistan’s Aiaal Belolyubskii. Reports also record earlier victories over Japan’s Yamato Ogawa and Nurdanat Aitanov, though accounts differ on Aitanov’s nationality. The semifinal set up a meeting with Han, identified in the reports as the reigning world champion. Accounts of the final agree on the 11-7 result but differ on the scoring sequence and who led late. Some describe Sehrawat opening a lead before Han rallied; others report a different early score. Reports say Han moved ahead 7-6 during the bout, but the available accounts do not establish a consistent play-by-play. The final score, rather than a disputed description of the late exchanges, confirms Sehrawat’s victory.
