Aurobindo recalls 112,932 Amazon acetaminophen bottles
Aurobindo Pharma USA initiated a voluntary nationwide recall of 112,932 bottles of Amazon Basic Care Extra Strength Acetaminophen after consumers reported discolored tablets, according to a U.S. Food and Drug Administration enforcement report. The recall covers 500-milligram caplets sold in 200-, 500- and 1,000-count bottles. The FDA report lists 14,640 affected 200-count bottles, 90,456 500-count bottles and 7,836 1,000-count bottles. The recall applies to specific lots, not every bottle of the product. Affected expiration dates range from September 30, 2027, through February 29, 2028. The recall was initiated on September 18, 2026, after complaints about the tablets’ appearance. Amazon said it is recalling the lots voluntarily in coordination with the manufacturer and the FDA. The company also said it had contacted customers who bought affected bottles and provided refund information. The FDA had not assigned a health-risk classification to the recall in the reporting available. The agency’s report identifies discoloration complaints as the reason for the action but does not establish what caused the tablets to change color.
