Warning over Ukrainian eggs after Salmonella detected

Published 12 October 2026

Food-safety authorities have warned consumers not to eat and businesses not to sell raw shell eggs imported from Ukraine after Salmonella Enteritidis was detected in a batch from Yasensvit Ltd. The warning from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Food Standards Scotland covers eggs bearing the code 3UA1012066, regardless of pack size or best-before date. Consumers are advised to check the code stamped on the shell. The products may have been repacked in the UK and sold under different business names, according to the food-safety notice. The FSA says consumers should not eat the affected eggs. Businesses must stop selling or using them and remove remaining stock from sale; where products have already been sold directly to customers, they should be recalled. Authorities are working with local enforcement partners to remove the eggs from sale. The eggs were produced by Yasensvit Ltd, based in Kyiv. They may have been supplied to catering businesses and wholesalers, and some may have reached smaller retailers. They are not sold through major supermarket chains, the reports said. The authorities have not given a quantity for how many eggs were distributed or withdrawn.
