Apple opens iPhone Duo preorder preparation tool
Apple has opened its Get Ready feature, allowing customers to prepare an iPhone Duo purchase before preorders begin on October 16. The tool lets shoppers select a configuration and enter purchase and delivery information in advance, but it does not reserve a device or complete an order. Customers can use the Apple Store website or app to choose the phone’s color and storage capacity, specify carrier and trade-in preferences, and add payment and shipping details. Some options also include accessories and AppleCare. The aim is to reduce the steps required at checkout when sales open. Preorders are scheduled to start at 8 a.m. Eastern time, or 5 a.m. Pacific time, on October 16. Customers who prepare through Get Ready must return to Apple’s store after that time and complete checkout. Preparing an order is not the same as preordering, and it does not provide priority access or guarantee launch-day delivery. Apple’s iPhone Duo is scheduled to launch on October 23. Reports have raised the possibility of limited initial supply, but the available information does not establish stock levels or show whether customers using Get Ready will receive their phones sooner.
